Important press conference addressing unprecedented attack on free speech reveals a last-days sign
4/10/18 – This morning, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Alex Jones, along with other high-profile InfoWars reporters Roger Stone and Dr. Jerome Corsi, held a press conference on the nature of the law suit filed against Jones and several others. (full press conference is below)
Jones’ attorney, Andrew Grossman, a well-respected and recognized top scholar on the 1st Amendment, announced their intention to counter sue using the Anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) law. The law suit filed against Jones is precedent-setting in the attack against free speech, which means every one of us should pay attention as this unfolds.
During the question and answer period, several of the independent journalists in the room preceded their questions with statements about frivolous lawsuits filed against them as well. This was an eye opening aspect of the press conference. We’ve heard of these suits filed to attack the New Media but it was interesting to hear from so many in the same room.
As important as this constitutional challenge is, there was something else that leapt out at me.
When Roger Stone was speaking, the one-minute excerpt is in the video above, he said that we are “on the verge of peace and prosperity.” Please listen to the short clip to get the context.
That made me stop for a moment. It also made me recall a time during the 2016 US presidential campaign when then candidate Donald Trump said specifically, “peace and safety.” I took note. I searched on the internet to get a copy of the clip but was never able to find it. I don’t now recall which debate or speech it was nor the specific date.
But this is now the second time that I’m hearing this specific phrase in a short period of time regarding the same administration and, from a biblical point of view, it is sobering. It feels like an announcement from the spiritual realm that maybe we are entering that moment before a car wreck when everything slows down but you can’t stop it.
It is more clear each day that we are in the end times. Are we about to enter a period, no matter how short, of peace and safety? Of prosperity? A period that will seem as if it came out of nowhere, as if springing from the impossible? A period that will set up this prophetic scripture:
1Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
-1 Thessalonians 5:1-4
No one can claim with any honesty that these are not interesting times! But today is another marker that time is short. Let’s repent, walk in holiness, and pray for our leaders. We need to be ready for what will certainly come suddenly.
